Teaching can really take a toll on your body, with working hours averaging from 50 to 60 hours a day in Singapore. It is no surprise that many have given up on the idea of up-keeping their overall well-being. Honestly, what can you do to promote your overall well-being at the same time? Dance. You would not need to spend hours working on just one aspect of your well-being. Not only does Dance promote your physical well-being, it also promotes your mental well-being too. Here are 5 reasons why Dance is of added value to your teaching lifestyle.

Dance builds brain power

More neurochemical, BDNF, is produced as you get your heart pumping in activities like dance. BDNF in turns supports the production of new neurons and synapses in your brain. Of course, the more neurons that are regenerated the better.

Dance keeps you more fit and alert

Whenever you exercise regularly, blood flow is increased to the body which eventually improves cardiovascular health and fitness. Toxins are also eliminated simultaneously as you sweat. This in turn helps you to meet the physically demanding job of teaching.

Buoyed mood, lowers stress

Dancing encourages the production of endorphins, which helps you to sleep better and alleviate your stress and mood.

Exercise increases blood flow to brain

As blood flow is increased to the brain, more oxygen is carried to the brain. This increases the mass areas in the brain involved in executive function, memory and spatial processing.

Exercise is a great way to socialise

Socialising need not be a chore or a bore when you do it with dance. Dance is a wonderful and fun way to build your social connections and it also boosts feelings of well-being.
